• The East Yorkshire coast — 40 minutes east (Hornsea, Bridlington, Flamborough Head)
• Selby — 15 minutes south, with Selby Abbey worth a visit
• Howden — 10 minutes south-east, with the medieval Howden Minster
• Hull — about 35 minutes south-east
